Best of the Hudson Valley Vineyards

Written on June 11th, 2009 by

I discovered Hudson Valley wine 2 years ago on the Shawangunk Wine Trail’s Around the World in 80 Miles event.

Fred, Lori, Jessica, and I visited all but one of the participating vineyards that day, taking many wine trail photos, and tasting many great wines.

This year, while not following the tour, Jessica and I are planning a return trip to some of our favorite vineyards.

Below is the list we plan on visiting.

11:30 – Baldwin Vineyards
176 Hardenburgh Road, Pine Bush, New York 12566

Baldwin had a delicious Strawberry dessert wine.

12:30-1:00 – Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery
114 Little York Road, Warwick, New York

Warwick is known for Doc’s Cider, Bourbon Barrel Aged Apple Liquor, and its Dirt Red wine. Lunch at Pane Cafe at Warwick Valley is great.

3:30 – Stoutridge Vineyard
10 Ann Kaley Lane, Marlboro, NY 12542

This is a newer vineyard with an interesting non-filtered wine. They have a very good Cabernet Franc which would go great with the grilled meats later in the evening. They are also introducing a distillery this summer.

5:00 – Benmarl Winery
156 Highland Avenue, Marlboro, NY 12542

With majestic views of the Hudson River Valley, this is the perfect spot to end the day, before heading home to enjoy some of the great wines we intend to find.

  1. Glad to see you enjoy the wines of the Hudson Valley. You should begin down in Warwick and work your way to Marlboro. Less back tracking, and you would save on gas.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks for the tip.
